Exploring the Celebrated Capital of Italian Ceramics

“When one talks about ceramics in Italy it means Faenza.” - Pablo Picasso

This unique biannual opportunity will lead you into the very heart of Italian ceramics. Unlike much of the rest of the world, the industrial approach to ceramics never made it to Faenza. This means you can immerse yourself in the many enchanting facets of the original art of Italian ceramics, as well as its modern interpretations, including private, curated visits to artists’ studios and museums, culminating in international ceramics festival, Argilla. This tour for ceramic art enthusiasts and collectors was created through our collaboration with the association Ceramica Faenza.

Tour HIGHLIGHTS:

Faenza, a city of ancient ceramic tradition, known throughout the world for the "Faenze," finely decorated majolica that countless generations of local artists and artisans have risen to an international level, will welcome us. The ceramic art in Faenza is anchored in the work of individual artists and family-run shops and dominates the cultural offerings in the city. Even our hotel Vittoria is located in the midst of this universe, and hosts an impressive exhibit, while also being famous for its subtle elegance and Art Deco style.  Inspired, we’ll proceed with our daily visits to discover tradition and innovation, decoration styles and glazes under some expert guidance.  Some afternoons will be spent exploring the extraordinary wealth of museums and artists’ studios, beginning with a guided private visit to the world’s largest and most important museum, MIC – International Museum of  Ceramics.

  • Guided visit to Ceramic Art Studio Gatti to explore its Renaisance touch

  • Cooking class and dinner in an elegant private home

  • Private visit to the museum Carlo Zauli

  • Private visit to the rarely seen treasures of museum Tramonti and discussion with the artist’s son, who currently curates the museum

  • Visit to the nearby medieval city of Brisighella known for tasting of its outstanding olive oil and wine
