2019 Language Program Dates:
August 31 - September 11
Learning Italian In A Truly Italian Environment
Our language program is designed to provide an authentic, immersive experience, and benefits from our unique relationship with the remarkable town of Pennabilli. Interactive morning language lessons take place in the classroom, accommodating all levels of proficiency. In the afternoon, there are various activities aimed at adding to your knowledge of the language, and also discovering the treasures of this special corner of the Emilia Romagna region, including cuisine, history, art, nature and culture. Though less structured, there will also be opportunities to experience and participate in local small-town life (i.e., lunching with locals, "working" for local businesses, attending local concerts, etc.).
Some additional attractions include:
Cooking class – preparation of a complete menu at Villa Amarcord and dinner with teacher/chef
Walk and conversation about the history of Pennabilli with Gigi Mattei, a local artist and storyteller
Explore the life and creativity of Italy’s most famous screenwriter, Tonino Guerra, whose museum and house are available for us to visit
Most of our activities are centered in the town of Pennabilli. While its quiet beauty, rich culture, and delicious culinary offerings are compelling on their own, our program also includes visits to nearby towns to further explore this intriguing part of Romagna. Highlights include:
The city of poets, Sant’Arcangelo di Romagna
The picture-perfect Republic of San Marino
The vibrant city of Rimini, birthplace of the Italian Riviera and Federico Fellini
All through your language immersion experience, you’ll be guided by extraordinarily talented teachers. With expertise ranging from theater to ancient languages, poetry to music and cinema, they use a variety of interactive techniques to help advance your Italian skills, while also enjoying yourself. Naturally, all classes and activities will be conducted in Italian.
By the way, our program ends on a high note (quite literally) with a history-and-nature walk in the impressive Sasso Simone e Simoncello park, and a mountain sunset farewell dinner at Agriturismo Sasso Simone e Simoncello.
